Your Website Design

Louis Sullivan, a well-known North American architect, coined the phrase “form ever follows function” as an architect’s credo for well-crafted buildings. His point was simple: what it looks like is secondary to how it works.

It’s the same for a website. Your website is more than a pretty form – it has function. Yet, most businesses end up placing too much emphasis on the graphic design of their website and not enough on its function. (In part, this is because there is a tendency of graphic artists/designers to represent themselves as Internet architects.)

Of course you want your website to look nice. But the return on investment (ROI) of your website will come from its function. So make sure that you fully understand the way your website will work before you wrap a graphic design around it.
